May Brain Dump

There’s so much I’ve been wanting to write about and share, but somehow it’s May.  Therefore, it seems a little off to be sharing about how I took the kids on a train ride to Kansas City to help throw a baby shower back in February.  March was just cold and fussy, and I’m not sure what happened to April.  Did it exist this year?

Anyways, let’s pretend we’re friends who haven’t seen each other in months and run into each other at Trader Joe’s on a Saturday.  So here’s the flyover view of life in the Food Snob world recently. . . .

1. I lost my camera. . . .

Let’s just misplaced.  Thus, I will grace you will grainy cell phone photos from here on out.

2. I’m going back to work full-time . . .

This is almost a laughable statement because everything has felt full-time since about January (mothering, wifeing, working at two part-time jobs, consulting).  Basically, one of my part-time jobs became full-time, and I’m thrilled.  It’s something I love doing and cannot wait for it to be the only thing I do outside the home.  (Hopefully) simplifying life here.  It wasn’t an easy decision, but that is a post in and of itself.  At the rate I’m going, look for it sometime in 2020.

3. I made the most delicious chocolate cake for the Food Snob’s birthday . . .

It’s from the Miette cookbook.  Wow.   That’s all I’ve got to say about that.  And no, there is no picture.  We ate it all.

4. I totally jumped on the Stichfix bandwagon . . .

And I’m a believer.  Of course, all the pictures are on my camera (see #1), but I did keep two items.  One of those was a pair of jeans.  In fact, the best-fitting and most comfortable pair of jeans I’ve ever owned.  I’d say they know what their doing over there if a complete stranger can pick out a pair of jeans for you.  I also scoured the internet, and no, they are not cheaper anywhere else.  So, yep I’m willing to roll the $20 dice again and see if I can score some cute items . . . .probably just not every month, more like a few times a year.

5. KIND sent me these granola bars . . .

And I was going to make a recipe with them, but I ate them all before I could.  Their that good.

6. I was also sent these cookbooks . . .

I’m kind of paleo . . .except for the dairy . . . and those granola bars . . . and that jar of peanut butter . . . . and that chocolate cake.  So yeah, not paleo, but I stocked up on frozen fruit and have been going to town on the smoothie book.  I also grilled for the first time (by myself that is), and I’m really excited to try out some of the grilling recipes from the other one.

7. We decorated our bedroom. . .

May not seem like a big deal, but we’ve lived 4 places in the 6 years we’ve been married.  This is the first time we’ve actually decorated our bedroom.  It only took 1.5 years after moving in.

8. I’m making baby food. . . .

These are prunes.  Let’s just say they did their job for the recipient.

9. I’m obsessed with our children. . .And I’m not afraid to say it.  Here we are making dandelion jewelry in the backyard (just like recess in 3rd grade).

And then there is this.

I can’t even handle it.

10. I stepped on a snake in our backyard. . .

This doesn’t seem very relevant in the grand scheme of things, but it was scarring.  And I didn’t feel I could end my list with 9 things.

  1. booo to the lost camera!! i wanted to see the stitch fix pics!!!

and oh man, totally obsessed with my child so i feel ya ;)

  2. I really enjoyed reading this post! So down to Earth and real-life stuff. I sure hope your camera pops up and I wish you the best of luck with going full time with your job!

  3. Whitney says:

I am missing you and love these lists you make! LOL to the paleo part.
