Have you heard about the little green pouch?
It’s this wonderful reusable food pouch that is BPA and phthalate free, freezer friendly and dishwasher safe!
If you have a baby or toddler at home, you are well aware of the trend of baby food being packaged in pouches. It is super convenient (you don’t even need a spoon), but it is also very expensive. Many of the brands that make organic baby food run $1.25 – $2 per pouch. That adds up fast! And what if you make your own purees at home? You are stuck putting them in regular food storage containers and spoon feeding, which we all know can be messy.
The little green pouch is the perfect solution for those who make their own baby food, but love the ease and convenience of storing (and freezing if you want) and feeding it from a pouch.
For the most part, Baby Snob has been doing Baby Led Weaning, so we haven’t fed her too many purees. What she does eat every single day though is a green smoothie. She gulps one down each morning as part of her breakfast, or sometimes will eat it in the afternoon for a snack. I couldn’t think of a better use for the little green pouch than these.
Coconut Mango Green Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (not the canned stuff, but the drink kind)
1 small handful of washed, organic baby spinach leaves
1 banana
1/2 heaping cup of frozen mango chunks
Directions:
1. Place coconut milk, spinach and banana in a blender and blend on high until all the pieces of spinach are broken down.
2. Add the frozen mango and blend again until smooth.
Yield: Fills 4 little green pouches
I made this and was able to give her one for lunch and stick the other 3 in the freezer (I had a sample pack of 4 pouches) for later in the week (SO much easier! especially since washing the blender is my least favorite kitchen chore.).
I cannot comment on how these do in the dishwasher, as we don’t currently have one, but I can tell you that they are easily cleaned by hand and dry well on a bottle drying rack.

I never thought about giving Jonas smoothies! I like that Baby Snob is older than Jonas so I can get all kinds of ideas from you. Definitely going to have to make him some smoothies!
i love to make smoothie for my child too! never thought of the pouches how inventive! i would love to make some tropical mixes!
mango and avocado mixes!
Lydia will start foods pretty soon here! I am getting nervous about it because it’s such a big change and I have heard different things about what to start with. Eventually though I have a feeling we’ll be doing lots of sweet potatoes and avocado. Those were apparently my siblings’ and my favorite when we were babies. I guess we’ll find out soon!
I think a green smoothie sounds pretty good. I also think a roasted squash and apple puree would be yummy for little Hazel. Also, a side note. I got the best tip EVER on blender cleaning, because I am so right there with you. Rinse your blender out real quick, then put some soap and water in the blender and turn it on!! Instantly cleaned blender! Then you just have to hand wash the rim around the lid. SOOO much quicker.
Kara – that is the best advice. THANK YOU!!
Love these! Smoothies sound perfect for these! And a great way to sneak in fruits and veggies!
I love the green smoothing. I think I have to try that!

I have a newborn and I don’t have any of these pouches, but they’re on my birthday list. I’m so excited to start feeding purees to our little one :)
I would do apples and bananas!
My 21 month old loves smoothies so I would definitely start there. We blend yogurt with strawberries and bananas. We always have leftovers and it would be nice to put them right into a second pouch. I have been thinking about making purées for snacks too (she is a picky eater and it’s a good way to naturally sneak in veggies). The pouches are a must have for purées!
My kids and I love to make homemade smoothies but my little one always pulls the straws out and gets it everywhere, these would be great!
I want to try your recipe!! I’m happy anytime my kiddos eat veggies! the pouches are also great for yogurt or applesauce on the go
